Heavenly Minded

Imagine holding a rope that stretches for miles, with just one inch painted black and the rest extending into infinity. That single black inch represents our entire earthly existence, while the remaining rope symbolizes eternity. This powerful visual challenges us to examine where we invest our time, energy, and passion. Are we pouring everything into that tiny black section, or are we living with eternity in view? The message from Colossians 3 calls us to seek things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. We are reminded that our old selves have died with Christ and our new selves are hidden in Him. This means we no longer have to be controlled by our former sinful ways. The challenge is clear: put to death earthly things like sexual immorality, covetousness, and evil desires, and put on our new selves. The conviction deepens when we realize how easily we get distracted by temporary pursuits, whether it is fitness goals, career achievements, or material possessions. These things are not inherently wrong, but they become problematic when they replace our focus on God. Our citizenship is in heaven, and we should live accordingly, sharing this eternal perspective with others who need to know about their potential heavenly home.
